KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a C-terminal tripeptide fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), comprising the amino acid sequence lysine-proline-valine. In vitro and in vivo research models have demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory activity, primarily through modulation of NF-κB signaling pathways and reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokine expression including IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α. KPV binds to the melanocortin receptor MC1R and interacts directly with epithelial and immune cells independently of receptor binding. Research has focused on its potential utility in gastrointestinal inflammation models, dermatological conditions such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, and wound healing. All research is conducted strictly for in vitro and pre-clinical scientific use only. Not for human consumption.
